Red Kitchens

You can do anything in Red in a Kitchen and it always looks fantastic. To me, red illustrated a zest for life and a strong personality. When you add a pop of color and then the timeless tradition of a glass door; you can’t lose. It’s beautiful. This particular kitchen was inspired by a condo I stayed in while on a ski trip to Colorado. I fell in love with it and when I found the right clients, I pitched them the idea and they have never looked back. Rustic maple bases with red uppers and glass doors. Clients after my own heart.

Green Kitchens

Green is just a timeless color for a kitchen. Granted the shades of green change dramatically and usually per decade but it will always be the clean feel of washed lettuce, zucchini from the garden and fresh herbs. The one thing I try to tell my clients is not to let people talk you out of something you really love. Remodeling your kitchen is very expensive. You get to do it once, maybe twice in your lifetime if you’re lucky. This client was retired, living alone and it will probably be the last time she’ll get to do this very fun and exciting and extremely gratifying project. So many people tried to talk her out of green. They kept saying “go white and accessorize with the countertop”. I say follow your heart. She loved this color of cabinetry and loved her countertop even more. She is still toiling over the backsplash but is very happy with her decisions. And that is all I am trying to do as a designer.

Blue Kitchens

Blue just feels yummy. It’s kind of like a hug while having a piece of cheesecake and a cup of coffee. The color of this blue kitchen is called Islander with a dry brush finish. It is perfectly placed in an ocean side bed and breakfast on Cape Cod. My client said “I want that Nantucket weathered look”. I think I found it. We started with washed whites then some beiges, but when I pulled out this blue, the color conversation was over. So excited to get this one in.
